Jay McCormick, CPL
A native of Opelousas, Louisiana, Jay brings 15 years of experience in land management to his position as President. Before co-founding Platte Energy, Jay held the position of Senior Land Manager at Terracore in Denver, Colorado, acquiring and managing a 250,000 acre leasehold position in the A-1 Carbonite in Michigan and a 20,000 acre leasehold position in the Bighorn Basin in Wyoming. He previously served as Senior Landman for Talisman Energy in The Woodlands, Texas, where he managed a 50,000 acre operated position in the Eagle Ford Shale in Texas and was instrumental in managing operations with Statoil as joint venture partner. Jay also worked for Chesapeake Energy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he managed asset acquisitions as well as operations in South Texas and in the Haynesville Shale in Louisiana.
Jay earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), the Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen (LAPL), the Houston Association of Professional Landmen (HAPL), and the Denver Association of Professional Landmen (DAPL).
Elizabeth McCormick, CPL
A Louisiana native and 15-year veteran of the oil and gas industry, Elizabeth began her career as a Field Landman in Lafayette, Louisiana. She subsequently spent nearly five years as a Landman in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma working various aspects of the Barnett Shale in Texas for Chesapeake Energy and was responsible for forming units, managing leasehold of urban wells, and broker supervision.
Elizabeth later moved to Houston, Texas to work the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania for Carrizo Oil & Gas, where she was responsible for managing leasehold, managing negotiations, and maintaining close rapport with key lessors. Before co-founding Platte Energy, Elizabeth was a Senior Landman where she supervised and managed operations of 33,000 acres of the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania for Antero Resources in Denver, Colorado, maintaining constant coordination of land brokers, third-party operators, and partners to discover potential growth opportunities.
A member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), the Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen (LAPL), the Houston Association of Professional Landmen (HAPL), and the Denver Association of Professional Landmen (DAPL), Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and earned her Master of Science in Global Energy Management from the University of Colorado Denver Business School.
